you can see, I have attached a nice, crisp (really new)
$1,000,000 bill to the top of this letter. Why have I done
this? Actually there are two reasons:

Yes,
renting gives you a roof over your head. And a place to

Yes,
a rental property can be your house, but it will never be:
Your own home!
There
is a huge difference. When you rent an apartment or house,
deep down it always feels kind of unsettled and temporary....because
you know that you’re not there to stay.
It’s
just a place to live. It’s where you store your stuff,
and sleep, eat and watch TV. There is usually little or
no emotional connection.
Isn’t
that right?
On
the other hand, owning your home is totally different.
Your
home is much more than a place to live.
Your
home is something you can put your heart into!
A
home is an expression of your personality.
How
it is decorated, and fixed up and taken care of.
Every
detail, from the furniture you select, the pictures on the
wall, to the way the bushes are trimmed, creates emotions
and feelings inside of you. Because it’s yours.
It’s
just a feeling you get every time you drive up to "your
home".
But
only when it’s truly yours.
It
doesn’t make sense — does it? Why would you
ever pay rent if there were a better way?
The
secret is knowing how to buy a home without the cash you
think you need! Listen to this story and see if it sounds

"Honey,
come here!"
Steve yelled out as he put his hand over the mouthpiece
of the phone. "Bob and LuAnne bought that house today!"
he proclaimed.
Edie
walked the handful of steps to the kitchen from the family
room. (Which also served as a living room, play room for
both of the kids, as well as a dining room if anyone came
over to visit.)
The
apartment was so small, that the kitchen table only had
room enough for the three of them plus a highchair.)
She
grabbed the phone from Steve’s hand, and said, "Hi
Bob! Gosh, that’s great news about your new house.
We’re so happy for you. Tell LuAnne I’m excited
as you guys are!"
Edie
handed the phone back to Steve, as she moved the high chair
out of the way, so she could sit down at the kitchen table.
(She looked down to hide the hurt look on her face.)
Steve
talked to Bob for a couple of minutes, then stepped over
the garbage can with his right foot to reach the phone on
the wall and hung it up.
He
grabbed a can of Coke out of the fridge and sat down at
the table next to Edie.
They
both sat in silence for a minute and just stared at the
table.
Finally,
Steve broke the silence.
"Man,
oh, man, Edie; I want to be happy for them, but I feel,
well, kind of jealous."
"Me,
too," Edie replied, "I mean, I’m happy for
them and everything, but I ..." Her voice trailed off
as she got up to look around their apartment.
Well...it
was not bad, she thought to herself. It’s a new building,
and it’s so bright during the day...
"Who
am I kidding?" She said out loud to no one in particular.
"What
are you talking about?" Steve asked.
"I
know that we’ve decorated the place nicely, and it’s
so much better than our old place, but, Steve, I want a
house too!" Edie replied.
"We’ve
been renting all these years, and, well, it’s our
time to get a home. Not just for us, but the kids will be
getting old enough to want a yard..."
Edie
looked out the patio window, out into the large grassy area
between buildings.
It
was big, but she couldn’t think of the girls running
around there, when she imagined a nicely kept backyard.
With a swing set, and sand box...
Steve
broke her train of thought. "Honey, I know, but we’ve
just got to keep saving until we get enough for a down payment.
I know it’s taking a long time, but what else are
we gonna do?"
Edie
didn’t know either. It seemed everyone they knew was
buying a house except them. (That wasn’t really the
case, but it just seemed like it.)
Edie
looked out the window and sighed. "Well, let’s
get the kids to bed. Maybe I’ll feel better tomorrow."
